Declaration Submission terms

These Declaration Submission Terms (“Submission Terms”) apply when you submit a scripture, story, testimony, declaration, idea, or other material through the Second Kings Society Declarations program.
By submitting a Declaration, you acknowledge and agree to these Submission Terms.
1. About Declarations
Declarations is a community-driven creative initiative from Second Kings Society LLC (“Second Kings,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) built around scripture and the personal stories connected to it.
Through Declarations, members of our community may share a Bible verse that has become meaningful to them along with the story, testimony, experience, or reflection behind it.
Selected submissions may be considered as inspiration for future creative work, including apparel, accessories, artwork, illustrations, typography, printed materials, digital content, or other creative concepts.
Submitting a Declaration does not guarantee that it will be selected, published, featured, developed, or used by Second Kings.
2. What You May Submit
A submission (“Declaration”) may include information such as:

A Bible verse or scripture reference

Your personal story, testimony, or reflection

Your name and contact information
-
Your general location, if you choose to provide it

Other information voluntarily included with your submission
Please only submit information that you are comfortable sharing with Second Kings for purposes of reviewing and considering your Declaration.
3. Your Story Remains Yours
You retain ownership of the original personal story, testimony, writing, artwork, or other original material you submit. Submitting a Declaration does not transfer ownership of your personal story or original creative work to Second Kings.
Your submission gives Second Kings permission to internally review, evaluate, discuss, and consider the material for potential participation in the Declarations program. Submission alone does not give Second Kings permission to publicly publish your personal testimony, identify you publicly, or substantially reproduce your original story in a commercial product.
If we would like to do so, we will contact you regarding the proposed use and any additional permissions or terms that may be appropriate.
4. Creative Inspiration & Development
The purpose of Declarations is to allow stories and scripture to inspire original creative exploration.
If your Declaration is selected, Second Kings may explore concepts inspired by the themes, ideas, emotions, scripture, or experiences described in your submission.
A Declaration might inspire apparel, an accessory, artwork, an illustration, typography, photography, an object, digital content, or another creative medium. The medium can change. The declaration is what leads it.
If we wish to substantially reproduce your original written story, use your name or identifying information publicly, or otherwise feature your personal testimony as part of a commercial release or public campaign, we will contact you before doing so.
5. Similar Ideas May Exist
Creative ideas, Bible verses, themes, phrases, experiences, and concepts may be shared by many people.
By submitting a Declaration, you understand that Second Kings may already be developing, or may later independently develop, products, artwork, campaigns, or other creative work that is similar to ideas or themes contained in your submission.
Submitting a Declaration does not give you ownership over a Bible verse, general concept, theme, style, idea, or independently created Second Kings work.
We will not intentionally represent your original personal story or original creative work as our own.
6. Scripture & Third-Party Material
Please do not submit material that you do not have the right to share.
Bible translations may be protected by copyright. A scripture reference itself may be submitted, but Second Kings may choose a different translation, obtain appropriate permissions, use public-domain scripture, paraphrase where legally appropriate, or otherwise determine how scripture is incorporated into a creative work.
Please do not submit copyrighted song lyrics, artwork, photographs, writing, designs, or other third-party material unless you have the legal right to provide it for the intended purpose.
7. Personal Information & Privacy
Information submitted through the Declarations form will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We may use the contact information you provide to:

Review and administer your submission

Contact you with questions about your Declaration

Notify you if we are interested in developing or featuring your Declaration
-
Discuss permissions, attribution, collaboration, or other next steps
Submitting a Declaration does not, by itself, enroll you in marketing communications unless you separately choose to receive them.
Because submissions may involve personal experiences, please use discretion when including sensitive information about yourself or other people.
8. Stories Involving Other People
Your story may naturally involve family members, friends, churches, organizations, medical professionals, or other individuals. However, please avoid providing unnecessary private or identifying information about another person without their permission.
If a Declaration is selected for potential public use, Second Kings may ask that certain names, identifying details, or other information be removed or changed to protect privacy.
9. Selection & Creative Decisions
Second Kings has sole discretion over which Declarations, if any, are selected for further consideration or development. If your Declaration is selected, the resulting creative work may not be a literal representation of your story or scripture.
Second Kings retains creative control over its independently created designs, artwork, products, branding, production methods, pricing, release timing, marketing, and other aspects of a Declarations Drop unless we separately agree otherwise with you in writing.
10. Compensation
Submitting a Declaration does not create an employment relationship, partnership, joint venture, sponsorship, or other business relationship between you and Second Kings. Submission alone does not entitle you to payment, royalties, ownership of a resulting Second Kings design, or other compensation.
If Second Kings wants to develop a submission in a way that warrants additional rights, participation, compensation, attribution, or another arrangement, those terms may be discussed with the submitter before that use occurs.
I like including that last sentence for your brand. You're not promising royalties to everyone who submits a verse, but you're also not writing yourself into a position where you could take someone's highly original contribution, build an entire commercial campaign around it, and say “well, checkbox.”
11. No Guarantee of Attribution
We may ask whether you would like to be identified if your Declaration is selected for public use. Depending on the project and your preferences, a Declaration may be attributed by first name, first name and general location, anonymously, or in another mutually agreed manner.
Second Kings will not publicly identify you in connection with a personal testimony without the permissions required for that use.
12. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to submit a Declaration through the standard submission form.
If Second Kings later chooses to accept submissions from individuals under 18, we may require permission from a parent or legal guardian before considering or using the submission.
13. Inappropriate or Prohibited Submissions
Second Kings may decline or remove submissions that contain material we reasonably consider unlawful, threatening, hateful, defamatory, sexually explicit, intentionally misleading, infringing, exploitative, or otherwise inconsistent with the purpose and values of the Declarations program.
We may also decline submissions that primarily promote unrelated products, services, organizations, political campaigns, or commercial interests.
14. Withdrawal of a Submission
If you no longer want your Declaration considered, contact Second Kings at info@secondkingssociety.com.
We will make reasonable efforts to remove a withdrawn Declaration from future consideration. Withdrawal may not affect actions already taken with your permission or separate agreements already entered into regarding a selected Declaration.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Submission Terms from time to time as the Declarations program evolves. The version in effect when you submit your Declaration will govern that submission unless you and Second Kings later agree to different terms in writing.
